MFD says the call came shortly before 4:30 p.m. Easter Sunday. They say the fire grew quickly. Initial units were quick to respond, which helped maintain as much of the building as possible, according to investigators.
"The first units knocked down a large amount of the fire and that allowed them to get inside, search the building for anyone that was inside and also to search for any fire and to put out the flames," said Eric Dahl from the Madison Fire Department.
Four of the 16 apartments in the building suffered major damage. The American Red Cross is helping people with their immediate needs like shelter, meals and clothing. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. (Send photos of news in your neighborhood to email@example.com)
