Its Miller Time In Milwaukee For Cards Rookie

Shelby Miller shut down the Milwaukee Brewers for the second time in as many outings this season, leading the St. Louis Cardinals to a 6-1 victory at Miller Park on Friday night.

The right-hander scattered seven hits over six innings, allowing one run and a walk while striking out five in a 106-pitch outing.

He got all the run support he needed in the third inning, when Matt Holliday crushed a 3-2 sinker from Brewers starter – and former teammate – Kyle Lohse off the scoreboard in center field to make it 2-0.

The Cardinals tacked on two runs in the fifth inning and two more in the seventh.

Milwaukee scored its lone run in the sixth when Jonathan Lucroy drove in a run with a bases-loaded sacrifice fly. Miller then struck out Carlos Gomez with runners on the corners to end the threat.

Three different Cardinals relievers faced the minimum the rest of the way to close the door.

Miller earned the win to improve to 4-2. He allowed one hit and one walk while striking out eight in beating the Brewers on April 12 at Busch Stadium.

Lohse took the loss. He drops to 1-3
