Madison Police say a 17-year-old boy was injured in a large street fight Monday night.
Officers responded to the 4200 block of Valor Way just after 10:00 p.m.
Witnesses said as many as 20 people were involved. One person reportedly had a knife, and a couple of others were using belts as weapons. They also said one teen was unconscious.
Police arrived and the crowd scattered. Officers did fine the injured 17-year-old boy, who said he had been hit in the face. He hit his head on the curb as he fell.
He told officers he remembered being punched and kicked as well.
Officers say some involved have gang affiliations, but several young people told police the fight started when someone had disrespected someone else's mother.
The injured teen received stitches to close a head cut.
