On a 6-to-1 vote, the Madison School Board gave final approval to next year's budget during a meeting Monday night. Board member Mary Burke, also a candidate for governor, was the sole "no" vote.
Burke says she'd like to see a better balance between the needs of the district and those of the taxpayer.
The $392 million spending plan calls for a $67 increase in taxes for the average homeowner in Madison.
The budget is a 3.38 percent increase over last year.
