The Dane County Medical Examiner’s Office is releasing the name of motorcyclist that was found deceased on CTH 12 in the Town of Springfield September 9, 2013. The man who appears to have been the sole occupant of the motorcycle at the time of the crash is identified as:
Michael David BEALE
Preliminary results from a forensic examination completed late today at the Medical Examiner’s Office disclosed that Mr. BEALE’s death was the result of the injuries he sustained in the crash. Additional testing is underway at this time.
This case remains under investigation by the Dane County Sheriff’s Office and the Dane County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Dane County Sheriff’s deputies have determined that the fatal motorcycle crash in the town of Springfield actually occurred at approximately 9:15 pm on Sunday, September 8th. A passerby discovered the scene at about 6:30 am today.
Detectives are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash to call the tip line at (608) 284-6900.
September 9, 2013 – A 36-year-old Madison man was killed in a motorcycle crash that occurred shortly after 6:30 am today in the town of Springfield.
The initial investigation points to excessive speed as the cause of the crash. The motorcyclist was traveling southbound on Highway 12, and was discovered in the median by a passerby who called 911. He was not wearing a helmet and was pronounced dead at the scene. The Dane County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the name following the notifications to his family.
Thus far in 2013, 65 motorcyclists have been killed in Wisconsin. The Dane County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the crash.
