It was beautiful night for soccer to remember what many say was a beautiful couple.
35-year-old Bram Dorresteijn and his wife, 33-year-old Shari, were killed due to a car crash on I-94 in May, leaving behind two young kids, 2-year-old Wesley and 3-month-old Charlotte.
To make sure the couple's kids are taken care of in the future, friends of Bram and Shari headed out to Breeze Stevens Field Wednesday Night to play a little soccer and be among the same atmosphere Bram and Shari first met.
Bram was a member of the Madison 56ers and Shari was an athletic trainer.
"One day Bram said 'oh I got to get the trainer to look at my ankle.' He said it was sprained. And pretty soon they started hanging out more and more” says Jim Launder, coach of the Madison 56ers.
All proceeds from the game go to help the couple's kids.
"It's a celebration of their lives” says John McKinley, who used to work with Shari at the UW Sports Medicine Clinic.
If you were unable to make it out to the game and would still like to donate to the family, you can do so by stopping by the First Business Bank in Madison.
