Dane County Sheriff’s Deputies Make Arrests in Retail Theft Ring

January 13, 2014 – At approximately 11:20 am on Sunday, January 12th, employees at Gander Mountain alerted authorities of a possible shoplifting in progress at the store.

Dane County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the business on Metro Drive in the town of Burke and approached four women in the parking lot matching the description of the suspects.  The women were attempting to leave when the deputies arrived.  The deputies not only found stolen merchandise on the women, but a search of their rented vehicle revealed a large amount of merchandise from other stores.

Two Madison women, Akia C. Jones, age 20 and Ratonda D. Holmes, age 23, were arrested for Retail Theft.  Holmes was also booked on a charge of Tampering With a Security Device and a probation violation.  She has past convictions for Retail Theft.  Other charges may be added as detectives follow-up on the stolen merchandise, which is expected to involve jurisdictions throughout the Midwest.
