TOWN OF TRENTON, Wis. (AP) _ Authorities say a 29-year-old Menasha man killed in a highway crash was a fire prevention specialist for the Grand Chute Fire Department.
The Dodge County sheriff's office identifies the victim as Jesse Pickett.
Pickett was driving his family to Grand Chute from a family gathering in Wisconsin Dells when their car crossed a center line on a curve and crashed head-on into a semi-truck on Highway 68 Sunday.
Pickett's front passenger, a 30-year-old Menasha woman, suffered critical injuries. Two children, ages 3 and 4, also were hurt but are expected to survive.
The semi ended up in a field, where it burst into flames. The 56-year-old driver was able to escape to safety.
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel (http://bit.ly/1d5plx1) reports Sunday's snowstorm is not considered a factor in the crash.
