01/14/2014 UPDATE:

$60,000 bond has been set for a Belleville woman, accused of embezzling $850,000 from the nursing home where she had worked for over 30 years.

The lawyer for 55 year old Joyce Ziehli said Monday in Green County Court that the amount of the alleged theft is less than what authorities claim.

Ziehli is accused of stealing the money to pay credit card debt incurred by a business that she and her husband operated.

She is charged with six felony theft counts.

New Glarus Police say a former employee of a non-profit faces six counts of theft for allegedly stealing $850,000 from the organization.

Officers say the money was stolen from New Glarus Home Inc., which is affiliated with the United Church of Christ.

Police say that 31-year-old Joyce Ziehli of Belleville worked as the administrative secretary for the group for the last ten years (2003-2013). She allegedly stole the money in hundreds of different fraudulent transactions.

Ziehli is scheduled to appear in court on January 13.
